Each piece of these Tibetan beads has alternating inlays of bands of Turquoise resin and brass. The ones shown above are barrel in shape and the base is refined clay.

In decorative work such as jewellery making, inlay means embedding another material, like gold, to say stainless steel. Traditionally, a portion of the stainless steel is cut out so that the gold is set flush with the metal's surface.
